How Can The Loveless Love?

Love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit and provided by the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . .

Romans 5:5: And hope maketh not ashamed; because, the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

The love of God is NOT the fruit of a natural man. He doesn*t get it or give it.

1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Since the natural man cannot receive or give the love of God, he must become an unnatural man. He must become a new creature, a child of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

When we receive Jesus we receive the Love of God. Then and only then will we have any ability to obey God*s command to love.

Luke 10:27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

The love of God is more than a feeling like we have in familial love, friendship love or erotic love. It is a choice. Those who have not received Jesus do not have that choice.

And what does that kind of love do?

The love of God will want the loved one to get to Heaven

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The love of God will want to improve the life of the loved one, here and now and forever

John 10:10b: . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The love of God will desire the presence of the loved one

John 14:2b-3: . . . I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Are those three things what your love does? If not you need to receive Jesus.
